      Headcorn Health Walks November



      Wednesday 3rd:  Meet meet in the Recreation   Common (TN26 1HD) at 9.30 for 9.45am start for
      Ground car park in Biddenden (TN27 8BB) at 9.30   an interesting, approximately 4 mile walk to Little
      for 9.45am start for a walk of just over 3½ miles   Chart.  There are gentle hills, no stiles and one
      (approximately 2 hours) across fields (possibly with   small set of steps which can be muddy/slippery
      cattle) and along lanes and footpaths.  Mostly flat   after rain.  The Greensand Way runs through the
      with three stiles.                     Common on which we may see cattle and wildlife
                                             amongst the heather.
      Directions to the car park:  Through Biddenden
      in the direction of Tenterden.  Just past the Village   Directions:  Take the Pluckley road from Headcorn.

                           Roman times.
                           Our guide for
                           the evening is
                           Simon Elliott,
                           a Kent based
                           historian,
                           archaeologist,
                           author and
      broadcaster.  Two Romano-British urns
      were found in Leggs Wood, Grandshore
      Lane (close to the old Roman road
      heading south from Staplehurst) in 1857.
      We meet at the Memorial Hall at 8pm on
      Thursday 25th November.
